When the GDPR was first announced two years ago, organisations had to figure out how the regulation would impact their existing IT and business processes. Research we carried out last year revealed that many SAP users had similar concerns about how the regulation may impact them. However – GDPR compliance is not just a one-off event, and users still need to stay on their toes.
With the regulation now enforceable, organisations have a continuing responsibility to keep their archives containing personal data up to date and secure, confirming consent of the EU citizens whose data they hold. This is no different for SAP user organisations, who must keep records up to date and prepared for compliance audits.
As such, the User Group is working closely with SAP to ensure members are guided through this ongoing process. In fact, we’ll be hosting our annual Audit Control and Security SIG in a couple of months to ensure that SAP users have all the tools at their disposal to maintain GDPR compliance.
The event will take place on the 5th September from 9:30-4:30pm at De Montfort University in Leicester. Speakers will include Lawrence Hill, Thierry Julien and Olivier Simonet from SAP archiving specialist TJC Group. Together, they will explain how products such as SAP ILM can help ensure a smooth archiving process under GDPR, and even prepare for tax audits.
